John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has voiced deep concern over Ghana’s current state, saying it keeps him awake at night.
Reflecting on the nation’s past and present, Mr. Mahama expressed disappointment in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, which he believes has reversed much of Ghana’s progress, taking the country backward.
Addressing a gathering in Nkwanta, part of his Oti Regional tour, John Mahama emphasized that the Ghana left behind by Kwame Nkrumah, a legacy of development and unity, is now at risk under the current administration.
“The Ghana we see today is far from what Nkrumah envisioned, and far from the nation we worked to build,” he stated.
He shared that after his previous term as president, he felt he had done his best and was ready to step back, enjoying time with his wife, Madam Lordina, and their grandchildren.
But seeing the current state of the nation, he felt compelled to return and offer his experience to help Ghana recover.
“I should be resting now, but I can’t sleep knowing the condition Ghana is in. The NPP has created a mess that demands experienced leadership to fix,” he said.
Mr. Mahama passionately called on Ghanaians to consider the upcoming December 7th elections as a critical turning point, likening it to a “second independence day” for Ghana.
He urged citizens to vote for the NDC to “reset” the country and restore the path to progress.
“This election is our chance to reclaim our country’s future. Let’s vote out the NPP and give the NDC the opportunity to rebuild Ghana,” he declared.
