The Country I Left Isn’t What We See Today – John Mahama

The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the current state of Ghana under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming that the country he left in 2016 is vastly different from what exists today.

Mr. Mahama stated that the NPP has undone much of the foundational progress he set in place before leaving office, arguing that mismanagement under the Akufo-Addo administration has harmed the country’s economic and social structures.

Speaking to a gathering at Gbalahi in the Tamale North constituency as part of his Northern Region tour, he urged Ghanaians to vote out the NPP to enable the NDC to “reset” the nation.

“We all saw the NDC in office, and we are now seeing what the NPP has done. The country I handed over to the NPP is not the country we are witnessing today,” he remarked.

Addressing recent comments by President Akufo-Addo, who suggested he would not hand over power to the NDC, Mr. Mahama responded firmly. “It is not for Nana Akufo-Addo to decide who he will hand over to,” he said. “The people of Ghana, with God’s guidance, will determine who becomes president.”

Additionally, Mr. Mahama pledged that, if elected, the NDC would prioritize the development of youth sports infrastructure by constructing AstroTurfs in communities lacking such facilities. These fields, he emphasized, would support the aspirations of young Ghanaians interested in sports.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Mahama accused the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration of steering the country in the wrong direction and urged citizens to vote them out in the December 7th elections.

He assured that an NDC government would restore the country’s progress and set it back on the right path.
