The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling on Ghanaians to reject any political campaigns rooted in religious division as the country prepares for the December 7 election.
The party’s flagbearer, John Mahama, warns that voting along religious lines could erode the peace and unity that Ghana currently enjoys.
Reporting from the campaign trail, Ahotor News correspondent Emmanuel Romeo Tetteh shared that John Mahama has been vocal about the dangers of religious-based campaigning.
During a rally in Kumbungu, Mr. Mahama underscored that the upcoming election should focus on the issues that matter most for Ghana’s progress and development, rather than on religious differences.
He described the recent trend of some political figures aligning their campaigns with specific religious groups as a troubling threat to the country’s cohesion.
John Mahama urged the crowd to focus on policies that promote prosperity for all, calling on voters to evaluate candidates based on their visions for Ghana’s future, not their religious affiliations.
He emphasized that the NDC is committed to advancing development for all Ghanaians—irrespective of religion—and encouraged voters to consider the party’s track record of inclusive policies and progress.
As he rallied supporters, John Mahama emphasized that religious harmony is essential for national unity, especially as election day draws near.
He urged every Ghanaian to stand firm against religious bias in politics and to prioritize unity and common purpose for the benefit of the entire nation.
