The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns over a recent decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) to reduce the number of party agents permitted to oversee the ballot paper printing process for the upcoming elections.
The EC announced that each political party would now be allowed only three representatives, down from the previous six, a move the NDC argues could compromise the transparency of the electoral process.
Richard Jakpa, who supervises the NDC’s agents, has been vocal about the implications of this decision, arguing that a reduced number of observers may hinder the parties’ ability to fully ensure the integrity of the ballots.
Jakpa emphasized that having fewer agents present could limit oversight and increase the risk of errors or potential discrepancies.
He called on the Electoral Commission to reconsider this adjustment to maintain trust in the election process, stressing the need for transparency and full accountability during this critical stage.
