Black Stars head coach Otto Addo continued his tour of Ghanaian players based in Spain with a visit to Rayo Vallecano defender Abdul Mumin at the club’s training ground in Madrid.
The 26-year-old center-back, who has been sidelined since suffering a serious ACL injury earlier this year, has recently resumed light training as he steps up his recovery.
Addo’s visit comes at a crucial moment in Mumin’s rehabilitation and is seen as both a show of support from the national team setup and an opportunity to assess the player’s progress firsthand ahead of upcoming international commitments.
Mumin, known for his composure on the ball and strong aerial presence, has earned praise for his performances in La Liga since joining Rayo Vallecano.
The visit follows Addo’s recent meetings with several other Spain-based Ghanaian players, including Iñaki Williams, Mohammed Salisu, and Joseph Aidoo, as the German-born trainer intensifies his player-monitoring programme in Europe.
With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Addo is leaving no stone unturned in building relationships and evaluating talent for the national team.
Rayo Vallecano are taking a cautious approach with Mumin’s recovery, but the club and the player remain optimistic about a return to full action in the coming months. The Black Stars coaching staff will be hoping the defender can regain full fitness in time to stake a claim for a maiden senior call-up.
Abdul Mumin suffered his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury on March 1, 2025, during a La Liga match between Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla. The 26-year-old Ghanaian defender was forced off in the 35th minute after feeling discomfort in his left knee following a challenge on the pitch.
