Former President and Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has stated that four years under a competent leader is far better than eight years under an ineffective one.
He emphasized that a president is initially given a four-year mandate, but the quality of their leadership within that period determines whether they earn an additional four years.
Mahama, addressing the media, explained that his focus in the upcoming election is on establishing a legacy, not personal gain.
Since he has already served as president and is entitled to state care for the rest of his life, he has nothing left to prove.
Instead, his motivation comes from wanting to leave a lasting legacy for his children and the country.
He expressed confidence that Ghanaians will appreciate his work once he wins the elections, and his focus during his next four years will be on making impactful decisions rather than worrying about future elections.
Mahama noted that because he is not preoccupied with the prospect of re-election, he will be able to make difficult but necessary decisions to ensure the country’s development.
