Kotoko should accept the decision; they are lucky – Kofi Manu
Former Techiman Eleven Wonders executive member Kofi Manu has advised Asante Kotoko to accept the ruling of the player status committee and not appeal the decision.
The Veteran football administrator has disclosed how Kotoko would have received stiffer punishment if he was still at the FA and claims they (Kotoko) have refused to learn from their previous mistakes.
“Nobody should say the FA hates Nana Yaw Amponsah that is why that decision was taken. I don’t have any problem with him (NYA) but most of his decisions are wrong. If i was still at the FA, the decision would have been more stiff than what has been handed to them.”
“Kotoko had gone through a similar problem with CK Akonnor before he (NYA) came so what has happened, less than a year, and look at the treatment of the players having binding contracts, look at what they did to Maxwell Konadu, he quizzed
BlueBoy continued to advise the Porcupine club to stop thinking of appealing the case because they have no room and negotiate calmly with the players.
“There’s no room for appeal by status. Article 51, describing the functions of the player status committee and Article 58, talking about the appeals committee clearly proves it.”
“Moreover, they (Kotoko) pursuing the case at CAS will be very difficult for them to win considering precedents of unilateral termination of contracts. I don’t think it is necessary but rather call the players and negotiate a favourable terms of payment because I don’t think they (Kotoko) can pay the GH200,000 within 14 days.”
Asante Kotoko recently terminated the contracts of four players and have been taken to the GFA since for their case to be heard .
Earlier this week, the FA’s Player Status Committee ruled that Kotoko pay all four players or face a ban.
