John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reaffirmed that the envisioned 24-hour economy will not be imposed on businesses.
He emphasized that businesses will be encouraged to engage voluntarily in the initiative.
Mahama, committing to implementing the 24-hour economy if elected in the 2024 elections, sees it as a substantial catalyst for Ghana’s economic growth and the generation of numerous job opportunities for the youth.
Speaking to members of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs, Mahama assured that the NDC is diligently pursuing the implementation of the policy upon assuming office.
He stressed that the 24-hour economy serves as a method to augment employment opportunities but is not the exclusive solution.
Mahama pledged to introduce the policy and provide additional specifics before taking office, assuring that participation in it would remain optional.
