2026 World Cup: I am doing everything possible to ensure Black Stars perform – Kofi Adams

Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the Black Stars are fully prepared to compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The four-time African champions are set to make their fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage, with the tournament to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Despite securing qualification, Ghana’s build-up has been clouded by public concern following a string of inconsistent performances in recent months—raising questions about the team’s readiness for the global showpiece.

However, speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, the Buem Member of Parliament struck a confident and composed tone, stressing that his priority is to establish the right structures to drive success.
“I am doing everything possible to ensure that we do things the right way,” Adams stated.

“I am not nervous; rather, I am calculated in my approach. Once I am convinced about what I am doing, nothing can stop me.
Pressure will come, but I will not allow it to consume me as Sports Minister.”

Ghana face a daunting task in Group L, where they will come up against England national football team, Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team—a pool widely regarded as one of the toughest in the competition.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before a high-profile showdown with England on June 23. They will conclude their group-stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.

As part of their final preparations, Ghana are scheduled to engage in international friendlies, including matches against Mexico national football team later this month and Wales national football team on June 2.

With expectations rising, all eyes will be on whether the Black Stars can translate preparation into performance and make a strong impression on the world stage.
