2026 World Cup: French Tactician Alain Ravera Appointed Black Stars Assistant Coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed French tactician Alain Ravera as an assistant coach of the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as part of efforts to further strengthen the national team’s technical setup.

Ravera’s appointment forms part of a broader restructuring of the Black Stars’ backroom staff as Ghana intensifies preparations for the global showpiece.

The experienced coach brings a solid international pedigree, having previously served as an assistant coach with the Guinea national team and French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, where he gained exposure to elite-level football.

In his new role, Ravera will work closely with head coach Otto Addo, contributing to match preparation, tactical planning, and overall team development throughout the World Cup campaign.

The GFA believes Ravera’s blend of international and club-level experience will add depth, balance, and tactical versatility to the technical team, particularly as Ghana looks to compete effectively against top-tier opposition on the world stage.

His appointment is specific to the 2026 World Cup campaign and aligns with the Association’s long-standing policy of expanding the Black Stars’ technical bench whenever Ghana qualifies for major international tournaments.

Ghana have been drawn into a challenging group alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, with the Black Stars aiming to surpass their best-ever World Cup finish—a quarter-final appearance at the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
