The 2025 National Best Cocoa Farmer, Mr. Edward Kwame Yeboah, a native of Mankranso, has assured the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and the government that cocoa farmers across the country will continue to work diligently to increase Ghana’s cocoa output.

According to him, cocoa farmers remain committed to sustaining the nation’s position as a leading cocoa producer and will intensify efforts to improve productivity through good agronomic practices and adherence to COCOBOD’s guidelines. He emphasized that increased cocoa yield is critical to national economic growth, rural livelihoods, and the welfare of farming communities.
Mr. Yeboah also gave a firm assurance that cocoa farmers will not sell their cocoa farms to illegal miners, popularly known as galamsey.
He strongly condemned the destruction of cocoa farms through illegal mining and urged farmers who have already engaged in such practices to desist immediately.
He noted that galamsey not only destroys fertile cocoa lands but also pollutes water bodies and threatens the future of the cocoa industry.
Calling on the youth, the award-winning farmer encouraged young people to take up farming, particularly cocoa farming, describing it as a lucrative and dignified profession.
He explained that with modern farming techniques, access to improved seedlings, and government support programmes, cocoa farming can provide sustainable income and long-term financial security.
Mr. Yeboah further appealed to stakeholders, including COCOBOD, traditional authorities, and community leaders, to continue educating farmers and the youth on the dangers of illegal mining and the immense opportunities within the cocoa value chain. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving as an ambassador for cocoa farming and inspiring the next generation to see agriculture as a viable pathway to national development.
