2024 Elections: Whether Dampare stays or not, NDC is poised for victory – Dr. Mary Awusi

Dr. Mary Awusi, the Deputy Director of Interparty Relations and CSOs and a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Campaign Team, confidently stated that her party will win the 2024 General Elections, regardless of whether Dr. George Akuffo Dampare remains the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

She criticized the performance of the police under George Dampare, suggesting that he acts more like a politician than a police officer.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s morning show ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem’ with host Nana Dogbe, Dr. Awusi expressed indifference about Dampare’s tenure as IGP, emphasizing that the NDC is determined to secure victory in the 2024 elections.

The Ghana Police Service recently responded to rumors that IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare had been dismissed, labeling the reports as false.

However, Dr. Awusi reiterated that the outcome of the elections would not be influenced by whether Dampare stays in office or not.

Regarding the government’s proposal to extend Senior High School education from 3 to 6 years, Dr. Awusi was highly critical.

She questioned the government’s ability to manage an extended program when they are already struggling with the current 3-year Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative.

She pointed out existing problems such as accommodation and feeding issues in SHS and suggested that the Free SHS program needs a review, as proposed by John Mahama.

Dr. Awusi further criticized the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and the government for failing to resolve the double-track system, yet considering extending SHS education to six years.

She advised them to seek guidance from experienced leaders like John Mahama instead of pushing forward impractical extensions.
