President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has extended congratulations to all nine nominees for the upcoming 2023 CAF Awards Gala, scheduled for December this year.
Notable Ghanaian players, including Black Stars Deputy Captain Thomas Partey, midfielder Mohammed Kudus, and Black Queens’ Evelyn Badu, have earned nominations across various categories for the prestigious event in Morocco.
Expressing his pride, President Simeon-Okraku shared with ghanafa.org, “I am truly proud of them and want to send them a big, big congratulations on their nominations. They are all winners and should keep their heads up for a bigger and brighter future.”
Ampem Darkoa Ladies, champions of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, have garnered five nominations, showcasing the depth of talent in Ghanaian football.
Coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has earned recognition in the Coach of the Year category, while Comfort Yeboah, who recently impressed with a brace in the Women’s Champions League, is nominated for CAF Interclub Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
Tracy Twum and Mary Amponsah are making their mark, competing for InterClub Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
Former Hasaacas Ladies and Black Queens midfielder Evelyn Badu has secured a nomination for Women Player of the Year after her success in 2022.
Midfielders Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus have also been nominated for the prestigious Player of the Year title. Winger Ernest Nuamah is in the running for the Young Player of the Year accolade in the male category.
In a significant acknowledgement, Ghana’s senior Women’s national team, the Black Queens, has earned a nomination for the national team of the year following their outstanding performance in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and 2024 Olympic Games qualifications.
On Monday, December 11, 2023, the crème de la crème of African football will convene in Marrakech, Morocco, for the highly anticipated 2023 CAF Awards Gala, celebrating the achievements and excellence of the continent’s football stars.
