Garu MP Dr. Thomas Anaba Defends Health Minister Over Tamale Teaching Hospital CEO Dismissal

The Member of Parliament for Garu, Dr. Thomas Anaba, has urged Ghanaians, particularly members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to show restraint in their criticism of the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, following the dismissal of the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

According to Dr. Anaba, while the decision may be controversial in some quarters, it is important for leadership to take bold actions when necessary to maintain accountability and discipline in public institutions.

He added that the Minister should not be unfairly blamed for acting in the interest of the health sector and the Ghanaian people.

The Minister of Health cannot carry the burden of every decision alone especially not when those decisions are aimed at ensuring efficiency and improving service delivery,” Dr. Anaba said.
He also called on his fellow lawmakers and the general public to consider the broader context of the dismissal rather than rushing to politicize the matter.

Good governance requires making tough choices, and sometimes that includes holding people accountable, regardless of political affiliations,” he noted.
