National Education Forum: President Mahama Calls for Inclusive, Opportunity-Driven Education System

Ho, Ghana – President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has called for the development of an education system in Ghana that is fit for purpose in today’s rapidly evolving world.

According to him, quality education is essential for national development.

Speaking at the launch of the National Education Forum in Ho, in the Volta Region, President Mahama urged stakeholders to focus on the bigger picture during the forum’s discussions.

“Ladies and gentlemen, as we embark on this important dialogue, let us not lose sight of the bigger picture,” he said.

He emphasized that the goal is not just to fix existing flaws but to build an education system that meets the demands of today’s dynamic world.

“The task before us is not just about fixing what is broken, but about building an education system that is fit for purpose in our today’s dynamic world,” he stated.

President Mahama called for an inclusive education system that provides every child, regardless of their background, with the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“Let us envision an education system where every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to achieve their full potential,” he said.

He also stressed the need to value and support educators.

“Let us envision an education system where teachers are celebrated, supported, and empowered to inspire the next generation,” he stated.

Furthermore, he advocated for schools to become hubs of innovation and lifelong learning, rather than institutions focused solely on exam preparation.

“Let us envision an education system where schools are the centers of innovation and learning and that prepares students not just for exams, but for lifelong learning,” he noted.

President Mahama urged participants at the National Education Forum to let these aspirations guide their discussions and policy recommendations.

“This is a vision that must drive our discussions and decisions today and tomorrow over the course of this forum,” he emphasized.

Declaring the National Consultative Forum on Education officially open, he encouraged attendees to approach the task with objectivity, creativity, and courage.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, as I declare this National Consultative Forum on Education officially open, I urge each of you to approach this task with objectivity, courage, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to the future of our nation,” he said.
