10,000 BASIC SCHOOL PUPILS IN JIRAPA NEED FURNITURE. (audio)
Records from the Jirapa Municipal Education Directorate in the Upper West Region indicates that students performance at the Basic School Certificate Examination has not been encouraging in the last 3 years.
One of the major challenges confronting teaching and learning in the municipality is the lack of furniture in many schools.
The Municipal Director of Education at the Jirapa Municipality John Baptist Kulah disclosed that more than 10,000 pupils sit on the bare floor during class hours because there is no desk in their schools.
