Zongo development fund needs legal backing – Minister

Minister for Zongo and Inner City Development, Boniface Abubakar Siddique has said, the Zongo Development Fund needs a legal backing and he will send a bill to Parliament to ensure same.

That he said would ensure that the amount allocated by government for the development of Zongos and Inner Cities benefit the entire country.

Government has allocated over GHC200,000 in the 2017 budget for the development of Zongos in the country.

According to the Minister, who was speaking during a visit to some Zongos in the Volta region, the bill will be presented to Parliament before the end of this month for approval.

“I am currently visiting all the 10 regions to consider the views of stakeholders which is very important in the formation of the bill”, he stated.

He is optimistic that, the bill will get to Parliament by the middle of the month to be approved and also taken through the legal systems of the country to become law.
