The President of Sanitation Ambassador Ghana (SAG) Mr. Kwabena Fori has stated that, Civil engineers in the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies must be held responsible for all the flood occurrences in the country.
This according to him happens because most of them extort money from landlords and grant them building permits to build on water ways and unapproved sights.
He further stated that most of these civil engineers are not up to their job but rather turn as ‘toll collectors’ and collect bribes from these corrupt people and grant them building permits to build at unauthorized places.
He added that, recently Ashanti region recorded two casualties which affected properties as a result of the flood.
He therefore called on government to advise them on their job description to reduce the rampant occurrence of flood cases in the country particularly Kumasi.
