Residents living in and around Nkurakan a suburb in the Yilo Krobo Constituency of the eastern region embarked on a clean up exercise to rift the community from indiscriminate filth and sanitation which have become an albatross in the area on Friday.

The clean up exercise brought together opinion leaders , market folks, the assembly woman of the community Hon. Evelyn Aseni as well as a Parliamentary hopeful in the Yilo Krobo Constituency, Hon. Michael Ologo.

The Parliamentary hopeful bemoaned the indiscriminate spate of filths which have engulfed the indigenes of the town and admonished the Town folks to be proactive and pragmatic in being reactive on which measures are best feasible to curtail the poor sanitation conditions at Nkurakan and its environs.

Hon. Michael Ologo further stressed on the need for the community to live in cleaner environment to enhance good health and longevity. He chided that most acute infectious diseases and ailments arises as a result of bad sanitary conditions which have become a sting in the country and also aver that it is imperative for each and every individual to practice good personal hygiene in their homes and their surroundings.

He also donated assorted drinks and purified bottled water , 20 bags of and an undisclosed amount of money to the community to enabled them to undertake similar exercise in future.

The opinion leaders who patronized the event received the gesture with glee and noted that such community participatory engagement are critical for our social development drive especially during the rainy season where issues of sanitation have become a canker in our moral fibre as Ghanaians.

They further intimated that it behooves upon every citizen to adopt an advocacy role for change in whatever capacity that will be beneficial for all and sundry.

The program was also used to champion development in the area and expressed hearty appreciation to the Philanthropist and Politician for exhibiting such showmanship, to the residents of the area.
