We are living in hard times – Ofosu-Ampofo

The vice chairman and NDC’s 2016 campaign manager, Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has stated that the economy is in a mess and Ghanaians are living in hard times.

According to him the economic growth achieved now from 3.5% to 7.9% is as a result of the oil discovery and the investment made in the various sectors by the led Mahama government.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo emphasized that the opening of New FPSO’s by the NDC government increased the quantity of oil drilled from the various basins in the country.

“He [President Akuffo Addo] talks about the negative things he discovered but deliberately ignores the positive the past government made. Just disaggregate the growth made in the oil sector and you will realize that little has been done in terms of economic growth”

“If the president talks about inheriting public debt I will say public debt is not a bad idea, even in the US and other developing countries, public

When you use these depts for developmental projects, you will reap the benefit in a long term. Today transporting goods has been so easy because of the huge investment made in the transport sector by the erstwhile NDC government”

“Looking at the power and petroleum sector nothing substantive has been done by this government and I can emphasis that we are indeed living in hard times”

“The president keeps on stating that he is in a harry, to achieve what if I may ask, all the promises made to the people of Ghana from the beginning of 2017 has not been achieved”

’In the 2017 budget the NPP government was going to establish 260 dams for irrigation but surprisingly not one has been built, I really feel disappointed in this government; honestly I thought this government will raise the standard set by president Mahama”

“For the past one year I have observed the NPP government and I can say not a single project has been undertaken, being it road, educational facility. The president also continuously fails to give credit to the past government for projects done, I get worried because I thought governance is continuous” He stated.

Speaking on Star chart with Bola Ray the vice chairman stated that he has the love for entrepreneurship through farming and other ventures although it is difficult to maintain these companies.

Ofosu Ampofo advised the government to follow good precedence and practices from the previous governments. He also made it clear that he has not accessed any minister and wished that the ministry for evaluation and monitoring will come out with modalities to access them.
