Two policemen killed at Drobonso by unknown gunmen

Some unknown armed persons on Wednesday night shot and killed two police officers and wounded another at Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram Plains District of the Ashanti Region.

Confirming the attack on the security officers, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei Mensah said the personnel were from duties at Drobonso to where they reside at Kumawu when the attackers opened fire on them.

He said though the attackers could not be identified, he did not rule out the involvement of Fulani Herdsmen or armed robbers. This is the second time within a week that unknown armed persons have attacked security personnel in the region.

Three soldiers and a policeman were attacked by unknown assailants on Monday.

The four are part of the “Operation Cow Leg” task force seeking to eject Fulani herdsmen and their cattle from the Asante Akyem North District of the region.
