There were challenges with NPP’s Free SHS before its inception – Eric Yobo

Local governments expect, Mr. Eric Yobo has stated that there were clear signs of possible challenges that will bedevil the Free SHS policy by the NPP government before its inception this year.

According to Mr. Yobo he believes the NPP won the 2016 election because of this flagship program and therefore much attention should be given to it.

He further stated that the government should not disappoint the citizenry who placed high hopes in the government because of this policy.  He emphasized that the government should have taken further detail research into the program to advert all the challenges it faces now.

“We generally have a big challenge with our educational system before NPP came to power, we still have infrastructure deficit as a problem, cash inflows to support our schools in not forthcoming, there was the need for the government to lay a strong foundation before its inception”

“We vividly recollect some political parties propounding a progressive approach to this program than hastening to implement the initiative for political points”

“Parents thought this system was going to benefit all students from the first year to the final year. Some I must say are highly disappointed because of its discrimination” He stated.

Mr. Yobo also stated that there has not been much change or improvement in the challenges even after the implementation of the project.

He made this accession on Thursday’s edition of Ahotor FM’s morning show “Oman yi mu nsem”
