Spio Garbrah’s posters sparks outrage at NDC unity walk

Posters and banners of Spio Gabrah nearly ruined the peaceful procession in Cape Coast during the NDC Unity Walk.

Some supporters expressed their disappointment over the display of Ekow Spio Gabrah’s banners for 2020, around the main converging point for the walk.

The NDC Director of Communication in Cape Coast South ordered the removal of the banners, but other party supporters said the removal was unnecessary, as the reason for the action appeared rather mischievous.

Ekow Spio Garbah, a former Trades and Industry Minister under the John Mahama administration, who participated in the walk, has hinted he will contest the party’s flagbearership for election 2020.

There is a possibility he may contest former President John Mahama, who is rumoured to be preparing fervently to contest for the party’s flagbearership again.

Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi has also declared his intentions to contest the party’s presidential primaries.

Former President John Mahama, also tipped to first contest however said at the rally that it’s premature to declare interest since the party has a lot of work to do before it chooses a flag bearer in December 2018.

“Many people have come up to me and asked me to make a declaration whether I want to stand again or not stand,” he told party members in the Central Region after a Unity Walk on Sunday, 5 November.

“The point I have made is that my declaration of my intention to run or not to run will distract the attention of the party from the work that they have to do and that’s why I say it’s a bit too premature to declare his presidential intention,” he explained.
