RELEASE: Police to look into viral video showing 5 boys gang-raping a girl

The Ghana police service in a news release has stated their readiness to look into the viral video showing five boys gang-raping a girl.

In the statement signed by the assistant superintendent of police, Olivia Turkson, the police have intercepted a video recording of what appears to be a gang rape involving a young lady and least five men.

The statement further stated that a special investigation team has been constituted at the CID Headquarters to analyze the video with the aim of identifying those involved and get them arrested for the necessary legal processes to be activated.

The police are also appealing to all media houses and those in possession of the video to stop circulating it.

In the viral video four boys overpowered the girl on the floor and had their turn with her as she struggled for freedom.

The little over two-minute video, suspected to have been shot by the boys, captured the faces of the rapists as well as the victim.

The rapists were heard speaking the Twi language but it is not known where the incident occurred.
