Reinhard Bonnke mourns Billy Graham

German Pentecostal evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke has expressed sadness over the death of popular American evangelist, Billy Graham as he commiserates with the bereaved family.

He indicated the passing of the famous US preacher has touched his heart deeply and honoured him for his long evangelistic ministry.

Reinhard Bonnke said he always felt connected to late Billy Graham because he inspired him at a time when the latter preached in a tent at Humburg in Germany.

According to Reinhard Bonnke, Billy Graham ‘has run the race and kept the faith from beginning till the end’.

“The passing of Evangelist Billy Graham has touched our hearts deeply. We, from Christ for all Nations, honor him for his long evangelistic ministry with its glorious results. He has run the race and kept the faith from beginning till end. Billy Graham has inspired me personally when he preached in a tent in Hamburg, Germany. I always felt connected to him. May the God, who is the God of all comfort, comfort the bereaved family”. He wrote on Facebook.

Billy Graham, one of the most influential preachers of the 20th Century died yesterday, February 21, 2018 at his home in Montreat, North Carolina, United States.

Graham became one of the best-known promoters of Christianity, preaching to audiences worldwide in large arenas, beginning in London in 1954.

Over 60 years, he is estimated to have personally preached to 210 million people.

He became a committed Christian at the age of 16 after hearing a travelling evangelist and was ordained a minister in 1939.

His global mission took him to all corners of the world including Nigeria and communist North Korea.

An early sermon outside the US took place before 12,000 worshippers in 1954 in Haringay Arena, London.

At first ambivalent about the civil rights movement in the US, he became more sympathetic in the 1950s, preaching to racially integrated congregations.
