PPP holds 4th convention in Bolgatanga

A total of about one thousand delegates are expected to arrive at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region on Friday to attend the 4th National Convention of the Progressive People’s Party(PPP) which will take place at the new Ghana National Association of Teachers(GNAT) hall on Saturday.

The Regional Chairman of the PPP, Mr. William Abanga stated that all is set for the convention and that the 2016 Presidential Candidate of the party, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, the Director of Policy of the Party, Mr. Kofi Asamoah-Siaw and the National Chairman, Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond among other party bigwigs have already arrived in Bolgatanga for the convention.

Mr. Abanga noted that delegates and other party gurus from across the country are expected to start deliberating on the theme for the event Friday evening while Dr.Nduom is also expected to meet with party faithfuls tonight.

The regional chairman of the PPP therefore entreated all delegates to comport themselves and make the event a success.

Mr.Abanga further expressed optimism that by the close of the convention, a clear signal will be sent to Ghanaians and the international community that the PPP is a credible alternative to the NPP in the 2020 general elections.

Agenda

The agenda for the convention includes a strategy session on the proposed local government election which will be held the night before the convention, to map out plans for all levels of Metropolitan/Municipal/District Assembly elections in 2018 and beyond, and the review of strategies for election 2020.

There will be presentations from the National Chairman, National Secretary and National Treasurer on their stewardship in the last election.

The National Convention comprises a gathering of party members from Constituency, Regional, National and Diaspora branches.
