Picketing Nurses clash with police

Unposted Nurses and Midwifes picketing at the Ministry of Health clashed with the Police Monday night as they defied orders to vacate the premises.

Over one hundred of the Nurses and Midwifes who completed their studies in 2016 began the protest yesterday(Monday) in demand for immediate postings.

The Police had asked them to leave the premises based on the orders purported to be from the Minister. But the angry nurses have accused the Police of firing tear gas and torturing them.

The nurses were driven away to the Efua Southerland Children’s Park, leaving them to spend their night at the premises of TV3.

Two of the nurses were arrested but were subsequently released.

The President of the Coalition of Unposted Nurses, Samuel Asante have vowed to regroup and storm the premises of the Ministry of Health until they hear something positive from the sector Minister.
