Ofosu Ampofo officially declares to contest for NDC’s national chairmanship position

The first vice chairman of the opposition NDC has officially declared his intention to contest in the upcoming national delegates elections as chairman.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo made the revelation on Ahotor Fm 92.3 morning show program dubbed Oman yi mu nsem on Thursday.
According to the man who has served at all levels and capacities both in government and the party, he has acquired the requisite knowledge and the needed experience and the expertise having worked under four successive chairmen as a faithful apprentics and when voted for, he would do everything within his means to capture political power for the opposition NDC.

Hon Samuel Ofosu Ampofo reiterated his commitment and readiness to sweep power from the Akuffo Addo led government which according him has failed Ghanaians.
Indicating his motivation for the contest, he stated that now in opposition, the NDC  requires very experience persons to organise the ranks of the party towards achieving victory, and with him the job will be done and be done properly.
He affirmed that as part of his strategies to capture power, he would implement what he describes as the triple R when elected, thus to revive; reviving the structures of the party, restoring the social democratic credentials of the party and recapturing of political power, which according to him is his ultimate goal.

Hon Samuel Ofosu comes with a depth of experience in terms of party organisation, he has been a national organiser for the party for 8 years, and also as two term member of parliament, a former DCE, deputy minister, substantive minister and currently as first vice chair.
He recounted the ordeals he and his colleagues had gone through in the past especially at early part of 1992 but stood firm and defended the NDC, during the turbulence periods after the nation had migrated from a military juncture to multiparty democracy, dreadful challenges and ordeals that confronted the party but in the face of all these, service to the party was taken ahead of any other consideration.

The national chairman hopeful revealed, the party needs him at this critical hour to inspire the members and re- ignites the passion of the grassroots who felt neglected by the party in the successive histo – electoral cycle.

Nonetheless this accounts for reasons why many stalwarts and power brokers in the party are solidly rooting for him to occupy the chairmanship position, when the NDC goes for their national delegates conference by October, 2018.

Through a post he forwarded on his Facebook wall on Thursday, he stated

“Having consulted my maker and senior members of our party and following the numerous calls from the rank and file of the NDC Party across the country and upon a deeper reflection, I’m pleased to declare my intention to contest for the NATIONAL CHAIRMANSHIP position of our great party, the NDC, in the upcoming national delegates conference.
