Ofosu- Ampofo has not sued NDC – Aide

Mr. Foster Asante the personal aide to the vice chairman of the Largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Samuel Ofosu – Ampofo has stated that the vice chairman has not sued the party as purported by other media houses.

He stated that he sued the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC  Mr. Tawiah Boateng and six others over accusations that he (Ampofo) leaked the Dr. Kwesi Botchway report.

In a studio discussion on Ahotor FM’s morning show on Thursday, 9th November, 2017, Mr. Asante empathized that Mr. Ofosu- Ampofo wants the court to order the defendants to pay him general damages for libel and cost, including attorney fees.

He is also seeking a “perpetual injunction restraining the defendant and each of them, their servants, or agents or assigns from further publishing or causing to be published the said or similar words that are defamatory against him.

Mr. Asante also stated that there were several calls and consultations made to relevant party officials to settle the case out of court but it all proved futile.

“I personally made a call to Tawiah Boateng to inform him on the need to stop granting interviews to other media houses on the allegations made, but it all ended on a rock”

“Ofosu- Ampofo has worked for the NDC for over 25 years and taking the party to court will be the last option”

“There were several ways to have resolved this issue without it ending in court but there is the need for Tawiah Boateng to explain his defamatory statement in court, which is the last resort”, he stated.

Mr. Asante concluded that Hon. Ofosu – Ampofo is still rooted for the course of NDC’s reunification and recapturing power in the 2020 election.
