NPP’s free SHS policy is a ‘Fantastic idea’, NDC MP, Eric Osei Owusu.

You can take anything away from the NDC Member of Parliament for the Afram Plains South Constituency,  Honorable Eric Osei Owusu but not his honesty.

Unlike other leading members of the NDC,  he has hailed the flagship program of his opponent, the Free SHS educational policy, as fantastic.

Until his claims, many in the NDC had only sought to ridiculed the policy as deceptive and meant for it’s electoral advantage.

But the NDC MP, who was guest on Emmanuel Kwashie’s Omanyi mu nsem on Ahotor 92.3 FM’s morning show on Thursday 23rd February 2017 says the policy is fantastic and will help to improve education in the country.

He however added that Free SHS is not the creation of any politician but that of the constitution of Ghana. The challenge however is the availability of resources to carry it through.

In his view the NDC’S approach has been to build the relevant infrastructure first so as to make the policy implementation feasible.

Last week it will be recalled the president in delivering  the State Of the Nation’s address at Parliament house had hinted that the Free SHS policy starts from the 2017/2018 academic year.

Also it had earlier been reported by the graphiconline.com that the president explained exactly what will be free in his Free SHS policy.
He is reported to have said, “by Free SHS we mean that, in addition to tuition which is already free, there will be no admission fees, no library fees, no science centre fees, no computer lab fees, no examination fees, no utility fees; there will be free textbooks, free boarding and free meals, and day students will get a meal at school for free.”
