NDC Branch Registration will not be extended- Ofosu-Ampofo

The Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has stated his happiness on the turn up of the registration process by his party which ended midnight of March 1, 2018.

In his statement on Ahotor FM’s morning Show on Thursday the director of elections made it clear that the party will not extend the registration process because of the tight nature of the party’s elections time table.

He emphasized that per the party’s constitution the flag bearer should be elected two years before the main elections when the party is in opposition and a year to the country’s elections when the party is in power and this should be followed no matter what happens.

Although there is the likelihood of the party facing some form of constitutional injunction, the Vice Chairman and the director of election for the party has stated that nothing will stop the electioneering process from the branch level to the election of the party’s flag bearer in December.

He further stated that around 1.5 million cards were sent to the various branches in the country.

Ofosu- Ampofo also stated that there is likely going to be very high number of people registering.

This to him is encouraging.

“We are waiting for reports from the various branches which will advise us on the follow up that will be made which will include auditing of the process”he stated
