Nana Yaa Jantuah resigns as PURC Public Affairs Director

The Director of Public Affairs of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Nana Yaa Jantuah, has resigned from her post.

There is an ongoing probe at the PURC by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) following allegations of misappropriation of funds.

On Friday May 12, Ms Jantuah and the Executive Secretary of the PURC, Mr Samuel Sarpong, were invited by the BNI for questioning regarding the alleged misappropriation of some funds. They were granted bail on Saturday.

Mr Sarpong was interrogated about the alleged transfer of Gh¢435,087 belonging to the PURC, into his personal accounts whereas Ms Jantuah was interrogated on the Gh¢120,000 she was reported to have spent on 350 hampers for Christmas.

Following this incident, Ms Jantuah in the evening of Tuesday May 16 tendered her resignation letter, announcing her departure from the PURC. Her resignation takes effect from November 2017.

“I wish to resign from the Commission effective 11 November 2017. Prior to my resignation, I wish to take all outstanding leave which is accrued to me as a staff of the Commission starting from 4th of June 2017,” the letter read in part.
