Mahama withdraws request to keep state bungalow

The Former President of the Republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has withdrawn  a request to keep an official state bungalow as part of his end of service benefit as former President of the Republic.

There was huge public outcry when it became known that the former President had requested to keep the bungalow he leaved in during his stay in office . The situation was reported to have left the sitting Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stranded.

Former President Mahama in a letter dated January 10,2017 and signed by himself says the request for the continuous stay in the facility is being withdrawn. He explained that he wish to inform the president H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo that he has finally withdrawn both the request to continue to stay at his current place of resident, No. 3 Prestige link,Cantonments and also to use bungalow No. 6, 3rd avenue, Ridge as his office.

He added that it appears his request threaten to mar the spirit of cooperation with which they as co-chairs of the joint Transition Team has managed smoothly, by transferring power from his administration to the new administration, he believes that the controversy is absolutely not needed in these early days as the NPP government settles to office.
