Kpong: some polling stations on holiday

A cluster of four polling stations near the Volta lake are virtually on holiday now as the long queues that the polling stations experienced in the early hours of the day, have completely dried up with only some few voters trickling in to cast their votes.

Reports indicates that, all the voters who came in to queue early in the morning had equal opportunities to exercise their franchise as the process was conducted smoothly by the electoral officers in the on going presidential and parliamentary elections.

There are seven main candidates in the presidential race including President John Mahama of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), who is seeking re-election for a second and final four-year term.

His main contender in the race is Nana Akufo-Addo of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is having a third go at the presidency.

The rest are former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ivor Greenstreet of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr Edward Mahama of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and independent candidate Jacob Osei Yeboah.
