Juventus’ Asamoah speaks ahead of Champions League final

The utility player has expressed confidence in his team’s chances of beating Real Madrid to the trophy on Saturday

Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah believes the time has come for the Old Lady to rule Europe, despite admitting the possible threat of Real Madrid in Saturday’s Uefa Champions League final.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri’s charges are eyeing glory on their return to the climax, two years after losing out to Madrid’s country rivals Barcelona.

“They [Madrid] haven’t changed much and they are still almost the same players,” Asamoah told Soccer Laduma.

“It is not easy though, because for the past years Madrid have been a very good side and last year they were the champions.

“They are used to these kinds of games, so we have to do more.’

The prospects of playing in the Champions League final and winning will surely delight Asamoah, who had to watch the 2015 final defeat from the stands due to injury.

“Since I have been here, this is the second time we are going to the final, and Madrid have been here so many times,” Asamoah said.

“For us, we have to do more because we really need it. I know they want to win it, but we are really hungrier than them.

“I think they have won enough. This is our time.”

Having already won the coveted trophy on two occasions, Juve are in line to make it a hat-trick of titles on Saturday.

Asamoah, who joined the Old Lady in 2012 from Udinese, has won 11 trophies in all at Juve so far.
