I will name and shame anyone who wants to sabotage the free SHS policy -Napo

The Minister of Education Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has lashed out on politicians who he claims are fueling the fire to put out the burning flames of the free education policy under the Akufo Addo Administration.

He has stated that, he will do everything within his power to enable the system which he describes as one of the greatest social intervention programme the country has received since the attainment of independence.

He stated that, he finds it surprising that, some politicians who had enjoyed the same privilege in the past are the same people who want to see to it that the policy does not survive.

The Minister said, “I will use my last strength to fight anyone that would try to bring the free SHS programme, which is indispensable for the training of our youth down.

“Yes, I am emotional about the free SHS because I have realized that this is a policy that has the potential of making Ghana better for us in the near future.

Speaking further, the Minister who is also popularly known by the name Napo said that every nation that seeks to develop must make sure that education is a solid foundation and therefore the country is lucky that the Akufo Addo administration is providing the means to such end.

He said, “Any country that wants to develop properly needs to educate its human resource, who would occupy key positions and lead the country into affluence, we are lucky to have a President like Nana Akufo-Addo, who loves the country and has decided to introduce the free SHS to properly educate our youth.

The free SHS policy was introduced, mainly, to support children from poor homes who would have been drop-outs after completing Junior High School”.

Moreover, he said that the youth of today are the future leaders of the country and therefore should be given the best in terms of education otherwise the country will be doomed.

He indicated that he will jealously guard the free education policy of the country introduced by the current government.

“I am saying it again, I am prepared to squarely face anyone that would try to sabotage the free SHS policy” He indicated.

The Free Education Policy was launched in August 2017 as to mark one of the major campaign promises of the NPP administration by President Akufo Addo.
