I.C Quaye makes Hajj Board changes without President’s approval

The Chairman of the National Hajj Board Sheikh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye has made some changes in the 11 member board who were mandated by the President to serve on the Board for a four year period.

The changes, as indicated has been made by the Chairman without consultation from President Akufo Addo. The substantive Communications Director of the Board Alhaji Gomda has been changed and his position has been taken over by Dr Alhaji Abubakar Siddick Ahmed.

There has been reports of vendetta between the Chairman of the Hajj Board Sheik I. C Quaye and Alhaji Gomda since last year.

There have been reports also that a Communications Officer of the Hajj Board Zak Rahman collected some huge sums of money from some pilgrims for Hajj last year but were not privileged to perform the journey to Makkah.

Sheik I.C Quaye, the former Greater Accra regional Minister has pointed an accusing finger at Alhaji Gomda for the publications that hit mainstream media, an act which he said was tactically planed to undermine the Hajj Board.

Alhaji Gomda has however denied the claims of the former Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso Central Constituency.

However, the office of the Vice President, which is in charge of the affairs f the Hajj Board have been informed about the developments on the Board and is expected to attend to the situation.

“We want the 2018 Hajj to be trouble-free unlike the pockets of issues surrounding last year’s pilgrimage. The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is aware of the situation. The Chairman of the Board Sheikh IC Quaye will be invited over soon,” a source form the office of the Vice President has confirmed.

Some members of the Board have also stated that, they are not abreast with any changes in the Communications directorate.
