GOC Elections: Professor Francis Dodoo, Ben Nunoo Mensah to contest for Presidency

All is set for the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) general elections with the Electoral Commission of Ghana receiving a confirmed list of 63 delegates

Incumbent president, Professor Francis Dodoo, will face a keen contest from the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) president, Ben Nunoo Mensah in a two-horse race.

The delegates comprising two delegations each from the 23 Olympic sports federations, 15 from the non-Olympic sport and federations affiliated to the GOC, with two representatives of the Athletes Commission, will elect a new president and 11 other officers to the various positions which make up the Executive Board of the GOC.

The 1st vice president role will see Paul Atchoe of the Ghana Vollewball Federation (GVF) battling it out with incumbent Deborah Cubagee with Michael Nunoo and Emmanuel Gidisu Tetteh to lock horns for the 2nd vice president role.

Evans Yeboah and George Lamptey will engage eachother for the 3rd vice president post and Richard Akpokavie must beat Mohammed Sahnoon to maintain his Secretary General position.

In the other posts, the Assistant Secretary General role will see Joseph Mingle attempt to unseat Richmond Quarcoo, Federick Lartey Otu of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) to compete with Christopher Essifie for the Treasurer post while Kenneth Arthur, Theophilus Wilson Edzie and Bernard Quartey will be up for the Deputy Treasurer position.
