GLO hasn’t paid Ghc11m tax – GRA

The head of the Mobilization Taskforce of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Henry Bradford Sam has dared telecommunications company Glo to prove the payment of its tax arrears.

The technical office of Glo and two others were closed down on Tuesday for defaulting in the payment of taxes.

The two are Kingsman Enterprise at Obetsebi Lamptey Roundabout and Ohene Media located at Awudome West.

The three companies owe at least 16 million cedis in taxes with Glo owing 11 million cedis of that amount.

Head of Public Relations for Glo Mobile Ghana, Ekow Quarcoo insisted that the company had offset some of its debt.

But according to Mr. Sam, checks at the Large Tax Payers Office after the closure does not indicate any payment.

“If he says they have paid, they should show prove of it. My checks at the Large Tax Payers Office indicate that the last time they paid was in April. If they have any receipt of payment they should show it.”

The taskforce is confident the 34 billion cedi target that his team has been mandated to retrieve by the end of the year would be met.
