Ghana Senior High School matron charged for stealing, granted GH¢30,000 bail

The matron and a driver of the Ghana Senior High School who allegedly stole food items meant for students have been granted bail to the sum of GH¢30,000 each by a Koforidua circuit court in the Eastern region

The suspects Comfort Oduro Bruce and her accomplice, Alfred pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing and abetment of crime respectively.

Comfort Oduro Bruce was reportedly caught red-handed by the chief security man of the school, Kofi Kanjagan, when she and the driver (Alfred) were transporting the foodstuffs with a GES vehicle with registration number, GN 6717-15, a few weeks ago.

According to the security man, at 7pm on 16th November 2017, the matron packed the big truck with sacks of gari, cartons of milk, rice, tins of Milo, cartons of tomatoes, among other items.

Mr. Kanjagan claimed she was allegedly assisted by one of her staff, Appiah, who later confessed to the Brong-Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC.

The security man added that after the incident he called the headmaster and even wrote an official report to him that very night but he (the headmaster) refused to cause their arrest and allowed them to transport the foodstuff away.

The suspects are to reappear in court on December 20.
