Fred Pappoe tight-lipped on GFA presidency race

Former Ghana Football Association vice president Fred Pappoe has refused to confirm his reported interest for the GFA presidency when the position becomes vacant in 2019.

Sitting president Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is in his third term of office since 2005, said last week he’d not seek a fourth term at the end of his running mandate, raising concerns about his successor.

“I have received several calls from people I know and others I don’t even know personally and they’re all urging me to contest for the GFA presidency when it is time,” Pappoe told Boss FM.

“However, I can’t say yes I’m ready for it or no I’m not interested and won’t contest in 2019. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and see what happens in the future since anything is possible in life,” he added.

Aside Pappoe, reports suggest that Ghana League Clubs Association (Ghalca) chairman Kudjo Fianoo, George Afriyie and Kurt Okraku are interested in running for the position.
