Farmers will no longer be on their own. President Akuffo -Addo assures farmers.

At the parliament house on 21st February 2017, his Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo in delivering the State Of the Nation’s address has bemoaned the current state of Agriculture in Ghana.

He made it known that farmers in  recent times have been left on their own without any supervision and support from the government,  which has made production very low.

As a result, there has been increased in food prices which has compelled  government to import almost everything.

However he believes agriculture provides the best opportunity to use modern methods to change the lives of many within the shortest possible time.

The president who intends to change the existing trend,  says his government is in to encourage people to take to farming business seriously either full or part time.

He has announced a soon to be launched  National campaign for foods and jobs to stimulate activity in agriculture sub sector of the economy.

As sign of commitment to this process he made public an amount of one hundred and twenty five Canadian dollars which has been secured from Canada for this purpose.

The president who is committed to ensure a strong and stable agriculture, has further committed his government to providing quality seeds ,the supply of fertilizers and provision of dedicated extension services to farmers to enhance production.

Lastly he added that food processing has been the first step during industrialization in every country, and is time to take it seriously.

This in his view will create jobs, expand farming business, and  save time in cooking our foods. It will also make a case for better hygiene in the process.
