Eight Suspected Armed Robbers Busted At Adenta

The Adenta Divisional Police Command has arrested eight persons suspected to have embarked on robbery operations at Adenta and its environs.

The suspects are Courage Amponsah, 25, a photographer, Yusuf Fuseini, 34, a driver, Ishmael Mahama 30, a vulcanizer and Gabriel Natah alias Sylvester Natah, 26, a labourer and Isaac Awuku, 23.

The rest are Emmanuel Buame, 25, blacksmith and Ben Doe Ativor, 30, a trader and buyer of the stolen goods and Kadir Mayama, a taxi driver, who transports the stolen items from the various houses to the hideouts of the suspected armed robbers.

They were arrested in a special operation by the Adenta Police after receiving many complaints about their nefarious activities.

Three other suspects- said to be at large- include Yusif Fuseini, Raymond Krampah alias Scary.

Briefing the media, Adenta Divisional Police Commander, ACP Antwi Gyawu, said the suspects were arrested based on intelligence at dawn last Wednesday at their hideouts in Adenta.

Two locally manufactured pistols and live cartridges were found on them during a search.

In addition, three industrial cutters were also found in their possession.

“The police also found six flat-screen television sets, five cabs believed to have been snatched from their owners, laptops, mobile phones, generators, assorted electronic gadgets, two car batteries, among others, all suspected to be stolen items.

Narrating how the suspects robbed the victims of their properties, ACP Antwi Gyawu, said the suspected criminals, after entering the compound of their victims, use the industrial cutters to cut through the burglar proof.

Armed with guns and other offensive weapons, the suspects then use cement blocks or any heavy objects to break the gates. At other times, the suspects use car jerks to open the burglar proof systems to gain entry to the rooms.

More than 30 victims have been robbed through this modus operandi by the suspects and the items have been sold at cheap prices to unsuspecting buyers.

The aforementioned items were recovered from the rooms of the suspects and the shop of Doe Ativor.

The suspects would be put before court after police investigations.
