Drink Kalipo and feel refreshed – Ofosu-Ampofo to affected trainee nurses

The National Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has stated that he is not astonished about the latest development that has affected trainee nurses to return their November to December allowance before their results are given to them by their respective training colleges.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Morning Show on Thursday, March 22 with host Onantefour Addea Mununkum, the Vice Chairman further stated that the current NPP government lacks policy credibility. “They only take credit for the good initiatives and shifts blame when it goes wrong” He stated.

Ofosu-Ampofo also stated that this problem could have been avoided but for political convenience  by the then opposition party NPP.

“The nurses should not be too worried about this new development, I think they should get more kalipos and refresh themselves; I will send some boxes of Kalipo to them”.

“Sometimes I don’t feel too much sympathy for the trainee nurses because the truth will always prevail. The former president John Mahama was so truthful with the people of this country on the allowances structure by helping them with loans that will be repaid after their training. This new development was to be implemented because the nursing training institutions were upgraded to tertiary status”

“The issue of allowances to the nurses was one of the biggest challenges faced by the NDC during the electioneering period. The nurses were given misleading information on the allowance by the then opposition NPP. This led to hostile treatments that were metered to us during visits to some selected nursing collages during the period” He stated.

The Vice Chairman further stated that the NPP government made a lot of funfairs just for the restoration of this policy and spent huge undisclosed amount just for that occasion.

He made it clear that the government should walk the talk and implement all their policies promised to the people of Ghana especially the trainee teachers and nurses.

“This problem I believe can be solved by authorities in charge to bring relief to the trainee nurses affected “he concluded.
