December 27 and January 2 declared public holidays

President John Dramani Mahama has by Executive Instrument declared Tuesday, December 27 and Monday, January 2 as public holidays.

The two days replace Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, which fall on Sundays.

A statement issued by the Minister of Interior, Prosper Bani, on Tuesday, December 20 reminded all about the de jure holidays of December 25, December 26 (Boxing Day) and January 1.

“It is noted, however, that, 25th December, 2016 (Christmas Day) and 1st January, 2017 (New Year’s Day) both fall on Sundays, in view of that, His Excellency, the President, has by Executive Instrument (EI) declared Tuesday, 27th December, 2016 and Monday, 2nd January, 2017 as public holidays.”
