Call Hajia Fati To Order – GJA To Government

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is calling on the Current Administration in Government, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to call Hajia Fati to order for her recent fowl act on an Adom FM reporter.

Last Friday at the NPP headquarters in Accra, Hajia Fati, a longtime member of the Party in Government allegedly slapped an Adom FM reporter by name Ohemaa Sakyiwaa Ahwenepa for snapping pictures of her. Today on Joy FM, Hajia Fati is reported to have confirmed to slapping the Journalist because she did not seek her permission before taking pictures of her. Neither did she also identify herself to her as a Journalist.

Today at a Press Conference organized by the Ghana Journalist Association to address the Canker, President of the GJA Mr. Rolland Affail Monney has called on leaders of the NPP to bring Hajia Fati to Order.

“The GJA urges the leadership of the NPP to call Hajia Fati to order by condemning her assault on the Adom FM reporter. Dissociating the party from same and applying sanctions against her”, he said.

Just last week, the world marked world Press Freedom day here in Accra where top personalities including his excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo assured to help fight for the absolute freedom of the press as well as their protection.

Rolland Affail Monney emphasized the GJA will consider taking legal action against persons who assaults journalist.

“GJA calls on leadership of the New Patriotic Party to sanction party member Hajia Fati for her alleged assault meted out to an Adom FM reporter last week Friday”.

Not only is the GJA calling on Government to take action On Hajia Fati, but they are also willing to take the bulls by the horn and take legal actions against persons who assaults Journalist as they carry out their work.

“The GJA is considering various options available to it including legal action to end such impurity against journalists which we will consider to be valid attack on press freedom”.
