CAF president Dr Ahmad backs Salah, Mane for Champions League glory
President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad rallying behind Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah’s Liverpool to overcome Real Madrid in the upcoming UEFA Champions League final.
The Reds will square off against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday, May 26 in Kiev, Ukraine.
Despite confessing his love for Los Blancos, the continent’s football governing body capo insists he will be rooting for African duo Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah in the finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
When quizzed whether he had spoken to Mohamed Salah to promote the 2026 World Cup in Morocco: “No. No, the African Football Force can force the player to promote or support any World Cup bid.” What I ask Salah to focus on is to win the Champions League with Liverpool vs. Real Madrid ” President Ahmad replied.
“It’s no secret that I’m a Real Madrid fan, but I hope Liverpool win, I’ll pray for Salah and Sadio Mane to win the title.”
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Porto, Manchester City and Roma in the knockout stages after topping their group with three victories and three draws.
The Spanish side have been equally as impressive, defeating Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich as they bid to secure a hat-trick of Champions League wins.
