CAF Polls: Former NNF President Ibrahim Galadima says Pinnick will protect Nigeria’s interests at CAF elections

Former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has reiterated his desire to see Nigeria gain more in the upcoming Confederations of Africa Football (CAF) elections.

Incumbent President of the nation’s football governing body Amaju Pinnick will be one of the candidates vying for a position at the election which will be held on Thursday.

The 44-year-old will battle it out with Republic of Benin’s Anjorin Moucharafou in West B Zone for a shot at a seat on the CAF Executive Committee.

“The truth is that Nigerian government have spoken and they have given Amaju Pinnick the backing to go and do what is best for Nigeria,” Galadima told Completesportsnigeria.com on Tuesday, two days to the elections.

“So, my prayer is for Nigeria to benefit from the election.”

On whether he thinks Ahmad will take over from Hayatou as CAF President, Galadima said: “I wouldn’t know if we are going to see a new president in CAF.

“I don’t know the kind of schemes or politics each candidate has played. So, whether Issa Hayatou will remain for another four years or if Ahmad will succeed him, honestly I don’t know.”

CAF President Issa Hayatou, will be contesting for his eighth term since taking office in 1988 against Madagascar’s Ahmad Ahmad.
