Boy shot at Asawase not dead – Police

The Ashanti regional Police Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah has allayed fears that the 15-year old boy Osman Abdul Karim who was shot at Asawase, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region is dead.

His shooting comes immediately after the 30 day fast of Muslims.

The boy was shot in the head on Tuesday night during Salah jam around On-the-run filling station when he refused to handover his mobile phone to an unknown man after being threatened.

According to eyewitnesses, who fled the scene after the shooting, the unknown man requested for Karim’s mobile phone but he refused to give it out.

He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for treatment.

There were earlier reports that the boy was dead but medical officers at KATH are saying the boy is alive and is in stable condition.

However, DCOP Ken Yeboah speaking to Host of Abusua Nkommo Kwame Adinkra on Abusua FM said ‘The boy is not dead, everybody should remain calm, lets pray for his recovery, we are going to launch investigations into the matter’.
