BOST CEO must step aside – Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, Managing Editor of the Insight believes the Chief Executive Officer of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited, Alfred Obeng, must step down for investigations to be conducted into the alleged sale of contaminated fuel to consumers.

Ghana allegedly lost about GHc 7 million in revenue following attempts by the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) to sell contaminated fuel to some oil marketing companies.

Some documents sighted by Accra-based Citi FM showed that BOST agreed to sell about GHc 5 million litres of the contaminated fuel to Movenpinna Energy.

The documents indicated that as at Wednesday, June 21st, 2017, BOST had agreed to sell off an estimated 186,000 litres of contaminated fuel to the oil company.
However, BOST has responded that the selling of contaminated or off-spec product to the oil company, Movenpina was the most appropriate option available.

Reacting to the concerns, Mr Pratt said he supports calls for the CEO to step aside to allow due investigations to be carried out.
“…A lot of people want him to step aside for investigations to be conducted and after the investigations, depending on the findings, he would be reinstated or be sacked,” he told Accra-based Peace FM.

“We need to make sure that he faces the law, that is if he has been found to have engaged in wrongdoing. But as we speak today he has not been found to have engaged in any illegality,” he added.
